Privacy Policy — Techorts

1. What this policy covers

This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Techorts collects when you use techorts.com, why we collect it, who else ever sees it, and the choices and rights you have over it. It applies whether you're browsing, submitting a query, booking a session, reserving a workshop seat, or enrolled in a paid track.

2. Data we collect

We only collect what a given action on the site actually needs:

Account details — first and last name, email address, and mobile number, collected when you sign up or complete your profile.
Purchase & booking details — the name, email, and mobile number you provide at checkout for a track, resource, session, or workshop seat (this can differ from your account details if you're booking for someone else).
Queries & requests — whatever you type into a "Submit a Query," "Connect With Us," or similar form, plus optional context like your profession, city, or organization if you choose to share it.
Payment confirmation data — the amount, date, and Razorpay payment/order IDs of a transaction. We never receive or store your actual card, UPI, or bank details — Razorpay handles those directly (see Section 4).
Login & session data — your login timestamps and the IP address of a login, used only for account security (e.g., spotting unusual access).
Course activity — which stages and topics you've started or completed, materials you've viewed, and any doubts or feedback you submit, all tied to your account so your progress is saved and visible to you.
WhatsApp consent & number — if you opt in, your mobile number is used to send booking confirmations and course notifications over WhatsApp. This is off by default and only used where you've actively consented.

We do not collect payment card numbers, passwords in plain text, or any data unrelated to actually running the site and delivering what you've asked for or purchased.

3. Why we collect it

To create and secure your account, and verify it's really you (via one-time password)
To process a purchase and deliver what you paid for — course access, a booked session, a downloaded resource, a workshop seat
To send confirmations, receipts, and course-progress notifications by email and, where consented, WhatsApp
To respond to a query or request you've submitted
To keep the platform secure and prevent abuse (e.g., rate-limiting repeated login attempts)

4. Who we share data with

We don't sell your personal data. It's shared only with the specific service providers needed to actually run Techorts, each acting on our behalf:

Razorpay — processes every payment. Your card/UPI/bank details go directly to Razorpay, governed by Razorpay's own privacy policy — Techorts never receives them.
Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Functions, Storage, Hosting) — the infrastructure Techorts itself runs on.
Meta / WhatsApp Business Platform — delivers WhatsApp notifications, only for users who've opted in.
Our email delivery provider — sends transactional emails (receipts, OTPs, course notifications).

We may also disclose data if genuinely required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Techorts or our users.

5. Cookies & similar technology

Techorts uses browser local storage to keep you logged in between visits and to remember simple preferences like your light/dark theme choice — this is functional, not advertising-related. We don't currently use third-party advertising or tracking cookies. If we add analytics in the future (to understand overall site usage, not to identify you individually), this policy will be updated first.

6. How long we keep data

We keep account and purchase data for as long as your account is active, since it's what your course progress, booking history, and receipts are built from. If you ask us to delete your account (Section 8), we remove your personal data except what we're required to retain for tax, accounting, or legal record-keeping purposes.

7. How data is protected

Access to Techorts' data is controlled by server-side security rules — a regular user can only ever read or write their own data, and admin access is restricted to specifically authorized accounts. Sensitive credentials (payment gateway keys, email credentials) are stored in encrypted secret storage, never in the application code itself. Course materials are streamed through an authenticated viewer rather than exposed as downloadable files.

No system is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security — but we treat this seriously and design for it deliberately, not as an afterthought.

8. Your rights

You can ask us at any time to:

Access a copy of the personal data we hold about you
Correct anything that's inaccurate — you can also update your name, email, and profile details yourself from your account
Delete your account and associated personal data
Withdraw WhatsApp consent at any time — this stops WhatsApp notifications without affecting your account or course access

To exercise any of these, email admin@techorts.com from the address on your account. We'll respond within a reasonable time and verify it's genuinely you before making a change.

9. Children's privacy

Techorts isn't intended for children under 13, and anyone between 13 and 18 should only use it with a parent or guardian's involvement and consent, consistent with our Terms of Service. We don't knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

10. Changes to this policy

If we materially change how we collect or use your data, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where the change is significant, make a reasonable effort to notify active users directly.
